Dreaming of the Big City

Oh boy I miss New York.

Even moreso after seeing the new Sex and the City film tonight. You will find some far more interesting reviews than I can muster the will to write at present from Rachel Hills and Girl With A Satchel respectively, but for now, in what might just constitute the laziest most efficient review thus far of this film, let me offer the following:

A rambly fashion parade with the odd glimpse of witty dialogue.

My feminist sensibilities were not really offended as such (I’d braced myself for this, so perhaps my defenses just worked), more like they were numbed. The real surprise to me was the presence of something I’ve never before – as an ardent fan of the TV series – felt in association with SATC – SHEER UNADULTERATED BOREDOM.

There you have it. The Comic Mummy has spoken.

Have you guys seen it? Thoughts?

PS – In happier NYC related news, I may have the chance to get there in the not-too-distant future: AGGGHHHH!!!!! But more on that as it emerges…

Commenti

I acknowledge the Gubbi Gubbi, Wakka Wakka and Butchulla peoples, the First Nation Traditional Owners of Country, and custodians of the land and waters on which I live and work, and all the peoples who have welcomed me on Country. I pay respects to all Elders past and present and acknowledge the young leaders who are working beside Elders in our cultural industries in the continuation of cultural, spiritual and educational practices. I recognise all First Nation peoples as the original storytellers of these lands and acknowledge the important role they continue to play in our community.
