So it turns out that having broken feet can be incredibly motivating. Being housebound has meant that I’ve been working like a banshee on the logistics of the upcoming season of “Viking Mama!” at Judith Wright, writing new comedy material, finally making headway on some projects that have been floating around my mind for some time…and last night I devoured this: It’s highly readable, super motivating and thanks to the wonders of Kindle technology, is smothered in highlights. I love highlighting things. It makes me feel like I’m paying attention and that I’ll actually return to said book to fully…

One more sleep! Tickets are selling, rehearsals are all but dunzo, the camera guys are getting the set-up sorted for the DVD filming, plus I have set myself a rather insane task of writing a NEW SONG for “An Unexpected Variety Show” today. Yes, I know. Ridiculous. I am. Absolutely ridiculous. I kinda disgust myself. Ugh. But as some of you know, there is one cover song in the show and I have been meaning for ages to replace it with an original, so of course, it is only once the finish line is in sight that I am prompted…

Wonderland featuring Betty and the Betties pozible vid from Jenny Wynter on Vimeo. This is it! The project I was banging on about yesterday! It’s all about taking my newest show, called ‘Jenny Wynter’s Wonderland! Featuring Betty and the Betties!’ to the Adelaide Fringe in 2013 and it has officially launched today right here! I won’t harp on about the details here, as if you click over to the page itself, all will be revealed! It tells you what the show is all about (clue: JAWESOMENESS), how you can be involved (including IN THE SHOW ITSELF), ridiculously cool stuff you…

I know I sing it onstage every night, but life really is an unexpected variety show. The shows have been mostly beautiful – opening night was solid, despite a couple of tech hitches, second night just popped big-time (wish to heavens I’d had the sense to make that one my media night, as we’d sorted out some of the teething issues from the night before! My bad, I’ve learned a good lesson though!) but tonight, complete with six audience members (two of whom were a fellow performer and staff member at The Butterfly Club respectively) and so many tech hitches…

So tonight I went from the glorious high of my second sold-out show to the low of discovering a two and a half star review on Adelaide Now. Boo-freaking-hoo. No really, I was quite gutted. I hate myself for even letting something as trivial as “public validation by a stranger by way of a star chart” get to me, but there it is. I’m here blogging my entire festival experience for better and for worse and so would be a liar if I left it out. This is a crapola moment in the journey which just happens to feature me…
