5 Things Making Me Smile

1. This super cool poster from the very sweet selection at Sycamore Street Press.

Admittedly, it would be even better if my baby could read it. And get the joke. But in the meantime, I’m happy to laugh in…

2. …my bubba’s cute little face.

3. The thought of doing my upcoming week-long stint of Kids Tours at the Art Gallery! SOOOO in love with the exhibition I’ll be leading kids through and so excited to be getting back into working life again.

4. This apartment – oh my word, not only is it Colour Central (a place after my own heart – my hubby is always saying that it takes him a good few days to come to terms with some of my bolder clothing choices, only to realise that they are perfectly me!) but this place is a NON-PROFIT ART HOTEL FOR TRAVELLING ARTISTS. Say what? Are you serious?

Philadelphia Art Hotel

Excuse me would you? I just have to find a spatula to scrape my drooling jaw off my now rather limp foot.

And finally…

5. My 7-year-old daughter came running inside yesterday from the mailbox, with a letter in her hand, all suspicious smiles. “Mummy!” she called. “You have a letter!”

Knowing full well I’d already collected the mail, I played along and opened my lovely delivery. And this was what was inside:

Needless to say, I will be holding onto this one for life. So when if she turns evil in her teens and/or tries to divorce us daggy, out-of-touch parents, I can present this as evidence that I ain’t all bad.

Oh yeah, and you know, it’s beautiful and all that!

Evidence, I tell ya!

What about you? What’s making you smile right now?

    Hi Jenny

Just found your blog after reading your lovely comments about the interviews on mine. And I love it! That note made me smile so I can’t even begin to imagine what it made you feel like

And I love that you are going to start talking more about your art on your blog. Once we put these things out there, more and more doors open and the creative love comes flooding in!

    I shall be back…

Yay Beth! Thanks so much for encouraging me too, I guess I’ve just felt really pulled this year to just be me. Authentically, stretch-marks and all, me!

I honestly love your blog, I think it’s so generous and wondrous to share such great wisdom and experience (of yourself and others) with the world.

Would seriously pay you good money to ship me the fabulous art that hangs above the bed……I’m drooling with you.
I personally would probably frame the letter – and make several photo copies just in case she tries to destroy the orginal in her teenage years.
My lovely daughter will be turning 11 in a few weeks & we are already starting the hormonal rolling coaster – eye rolling becoming standard response. Good luck with yours!

That’s such a good idea, I think I should put one of them in a safe somewhere. I guess at least it’s preserved in some form here on the ole blog. Will blogging’s usefulness never end? Sigh.

Eye rolling is already well and truly part of our daily life. Teen angst just arrives earlier and earlier, does it not? We’ve actually banned Hannah Montana for the interim because of it!

Oh, oh, if you love the art there you should seriously check out my friend’s art over at donnajensen.blogspot.com – similar kinda stylings to the painting above in terms of colour, flowers and the rest. She’s doing the e-course too!

True, true. She even watches “Pride and Prejudice” with me BY CHOICE! Seriously, there’s a part of me that can already die happy.
